Statute overview

About this statute

Indsatte, der afsoner fængselsstraf eller er idømt forvaring, har ret til besøg m.v. efter de nævnte regler i straffuldbyrdelsesloven. Inmates serving life imprisonment, or detained for a life-imprisonment-type offense, may only receive visits during the first 10 years if the prison authority permits it. Kriminalforsorgsområdet may limit prison visits and visitor items, require ID and consent for background checks, and restrict or stop visits for security, crime-prevention, or radicalization reasons. Before visits, guidance must be given, the visit companion must be informed, and disclosure of confidential information is only allowed with the inmate’s written consent and a confidentiality duty. The prison authority also decides these cases and some decisions can be appealed. Section 4 concerns a ban on visits by a close relative or on using such a permit, but the text is truncated.
