Statute overview

About this statute

Provisions on how consumer prices and register prices for medicines are calculated, including who may adjust or publish them. Section 11 sets consumer price rules for several medicine categories, using different price bases depending on how the product is supplied or sold. Apotekeren may set different prices at pharmacies and units, but each pharmacy or unit must use the same price on the same day; shipped medicines must use the price in force at the shipping pharmacy or branch; and certain farm-animal medicines sold outside a pharmacy have their sales price set by the pharmacy or approved sales outlet. A pharmacy must price split medicines proportionally, and the pharmacist must set the settlement price for compounded medicines based on production costs plus a reasonable profit. The consumer price of magistral medicines is made up of the settlement price, used as the basis for certain calculations, plus a prescription fee.
