Statute overview

About this statute

The provision defines terms and sets rat-prevention duties, including immediate reporting of rat sightings to the municipal council and property owners’ duty to keep premises secured and clean. Kommunalbestyrelsen must notify residents about reporting rat sightings, and must install rat barriers in specified sewer connections where technically possible, subject to stated exceptions. Section 34 sets rules for R1 and R2 rat-control authorisations, course admission, renewals, reporting, and who may carry out certain rat-control work. Certain people with professional qualifications obtained in another EU member state may get R1 authorisation to carry out professional rat control in Denmark without taking the course or passing the exam. Some people with professional qualifications from another EU Member State are exempt from authorization for temporary or occasional professional rat control in Denmark, but they must notify the Environmental Protection Agency in writing beforehand.
