About this statute

Anyone carrying out commercial animal trade must have a permit from the Danish Food Administration, and permit applications must be submitted there with specified information. Section 26 sets a processing deadline for Fødevarestyrelsen, limits where the business may operate, requires re-application after major changes, prohibits holding or selling listed animals, and requires animal keepers to treat animals properly. Rooms or areas where animals are kept must be arranged so the animals’ needs are met. Section 9 requires animal businesses to keep animals in suitable enclosures, provide care and safety conditions, train staff, use a supervising veterinarian, and give buyers a written care guide.
