Statute overview

About this statute

The debt collection authority and creditors have several duties for transferring claims, notifying changes, and handling installment plans and interest. The debt-collection authority must notify debtors and give written notice before wage withholding, with at least 14 days to submit a budget form or object in some cases. Hvis skyldneren og husstanden ikke har det nødvendige til en beskeden levefod, kan der bevilges henstand. The collection authority may start or change wage withholding for extra arrears, sometimes without prior notice, and must assess ability to pay in certain cases. The debt-collection authority may refuse an income-capacity assessment if it would not affect the decision, must give the debtor a budget form for a new wage-withholding notice, and the person liable to withhold must provide requested information within 14 days.
