Statute overview

About this statute

This provision sets who may vote in Folketing elections, who may stand as a candidate, and that members are elected for 4 years. Section 32 says Folketing elections are called by royal open letter and held on the same day nationwide, with special rules for the Faroe Islands and Greenland. New parties must notify the Minister of the Interior and Health by noon 15 days before election day, include voter declarations meeting a stated minimum, and register those declarations in the minister’s digital solution. The Election Board may not decide on the application during the election-period blackout. Reglerne fastlægger, hvordan et partinavn godkendes og forlænges, hvordan vælgererklæringer afgives og registreres, og hvilke handlinger partier, vælgere og myndigheder skal eller ikke må foretage. Voters covered by § 2 who are registered as having left Denmark must be entered on the electoral roll on request, using an approved form submitted to the municipal council.
