Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble says the Postal Act implements parts of certain EU postal directives and states the law’s purpose and scope. Transportministeren must maintain a database of certain mail recipients and give licensed postal companies access to CPR name and address information for recipients in their service area who qualify for direct home delivery. Section 9 limits how a post company may use certain information and gives the transport minister powers over postal services, databases, supervision, fees, complaints, and service requirements. This section says unauthorized postal delivery is punishable by a fine, and several other specified breaches are also fined. When this law takes effect, Law No. 472 of 9 June 2004 on postal carriage is repealed. The 2004 regulation on postal business and postal carriage stays in force until it is repealed or replaced by rules made under this law. The law does not apply to the Faroe Islands or Greenland.
