About this statute

This provision says the law aims to protect the environment and gives the environment minister power to set certain rules; it also requires pollution-related activities to be sited and run to minimize pollution. Businesses, polluters, manufacturers/importers, users/consumers, public authorities, and polluting enterprises have environmental duties to reduce pollution and waste and support recycling; the Environment Minister may issue detailed rules on employee involvement. Miljøministeren may make detailed rules on pollution control, reporting, approvals, fees, authorisations, and self-inspection; municipal councils may also adopt local rules for certain heating installations. The minister may set rules on delegation, complaints, temporary funding, environmental labels, and fees. The minister may set detailed rules for fees, grants, complaints, deposit-return schemes, producer responsibility systems, registers, and security deposits, and materials may not be sold in misleading circumstances.
