Statute overview

About this statute

This provision says the asbestos regulation applies to asbestos work and other work with asbestos-dust risk, defines key terms, and requires safe planning; demolition normally needs authorization from Sikkerhedsstyrelsen, with a narrow exception for minor short-term demolition. Asbestos risks must be kept to a minimum, and if there is even slight suspicion of asbestos, the work must be treated as asbestos work and follow the regulation’s rules. The employer must prepare written asbestos work plans before demolition and before cleanup after fires or major storm damage, and must notify the Danish Labour Inspection Authority before asbestos work starts, preferably 8 days in advance. Anmeldelsen til Arbejdstilsynet skal indeholde ekstra oplysninger om arbejdet, og arbejdsområder med asbest skal afgrænses og sikres med adgangsbegrænsning, advarselsskiltning, støvkontrol og rengøring. Workers must use suitable personal protective equipment for asbestos dust risk, and employers must provide employees with suitable respiratory protection.
