Statute overview

About this statute

This provision sets the purpose of coastal protection and gives the Environment Minister and municipal council powers to make rules and decide on coastal-protection measures. The municipality must publish expected completion times for each process step, including delays. The Environment Minister may order coastal protection works with the state as developer, and permits are required for certain coastal protection works in specified coastal areas. A permit under § 3 may, in line with the Watercourses Act, replace other permits and approvals needed to carry out covered measures. Miljøministeren gets powers to set rules for handling certain cases, and kommunalbestyrelsen must consult and publish certain coastal protection projects. Application notices must also be sent in writing to neighboring landowners in some cases. Section 6 is titled “Finansiering” (Financing).
