Statute overview

About this statute

This text sets out the purpose of the gymnasial education laws and gives the education minister power to set admission rules and deadlines. Some applicants have a right to admission to the 2-year hf programme, others may be admitted after a standardised assessment, and the minister may set detailed rules. Elever may switch between certain gymnasial programmes or institutions within the stated period, subject to conditions, and institution leaders must guide students about the transition. Section 18 sets admission timing, merit rules, and minimum study-hour requirements for certain upper-secondary programmes. School leaders must place students into study tracks as far as possible according to the group’s wishes; no student has a right to get the study track they want; and the minister may set rules for track selection and requirements in the 2-year programme.
