Statute overview

About this statute

This provision states the Food Act’s purpose and gives the food minister broad power to make rules on food safety, hygiene, labeling, marketing, businesses, imports, exports, control, and related fees. This provision lists commencement dates for several amendments and says one part applies only to decisions made after the law’s entry into force. Section 47 states that the law enters into force on 1 July 2011.
