Statute overview

About this statute

Regulates when electronic certificates count as recognized certificates and what information they must include. Before issuing a recognized certificate, certification service providers must verify the applicant’s identity, check the certificate information, ensure the signer has exclusive control of the signature-creation data, and guarantee compatibility between signature-creation and verification data when both are generated by the provider. Some electronic certificates from providers outside the EEA are treated as equivalent to certificates issued in Spain if one of the listed recognition or certification conditions is met.
