About this statute

Los miembros de la Policía de Galicia deben tratar correctamente a la ciudadanía, informarles sobre sus intervenciones y actuar con prudencia; no deben usar la fuerza ni las armas salvo en los casos excepcionales previstos. Los miembros de la Policía de Galicia must identify themselves when making an arrest, follow the required legal procedures with due diligence, and protect detainees’ life, physical integrity, health, honor, dignity, and other recognized rights. Members of the Policía de Galicia must carry out their duties with total dedication and, even off duty, must observe their role-related duties, intervene to defend the law and public safety, and provide assistance when needed. Members of the Police of Galicia must keep secret information learned through their duties, and they do not have to disclose their information sources unless their duties or legal rules require it. Members of the Policía de Galicia are personally and directly responsible for acts they carry out in their professional work when they breach the legal, regulatory, or chapter principles that govern their profession.
