Statute overview

About this statute

Certain physical-protection responsible persons must immediately notify specified police, ministry, and nuclear-safety authorities about certain losses, thefts, diversions, attempts, or credible sabotage threats involving nuclear materials or radioactive sources. Certain nuclear installations must have a physical protection authorization, and installations with radioactive sources must protect those sources under this decree. Some nuclear materials and certain radioactive sources must be handled under prudent physical-protection management practices, and the Ministry of the Interior or the Nuclear Safety Council may set those practices within their competences. Los titulares de instalaciones nucleares deben pedir la autorización de protección física cuando soliciten ciertas autorizaciones, revisar antes las modificaciones que afecten a esa protección y, si cambia la base de la autorización, pedir una autorización de modificación. An authorization request must include specified supporting documents, and any change to the physical protection plan must be approved by the Directorate General of Energy Policy and Mines.
