In order to enhance the coherence and effectiveness of the Early Detection and Exclusion System (‘EDES’) owned by the Commission, it is necessary to ensure that the Commission is represented in this panel by high-level officials specialised in anti-fraud and budget protection matters. ---|--- (2) | To that end, following the College Decision of 11 July 2023 creating a temporary post of Principal Adviser BUDG.PA02 ‘Financial and legal issues, rule of law, fraud prevention and EDES’ (3), the holder of this post should be one of the two permanent representatives of the Commission. ---|--- (3) | Decision (EU) 2018/1220 should therefore be amended accordingly. ---|--- HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 In Article 5(1) of Decision (EU) 2018/1220, the first subparagraph is replaced by the following: ‘The DG BUDG principal adviser responsible for “Financial and legal issues, rule of law, fraud prevention and EDES” from the Directorate-General for Budget shall be one of the two permanent members of the panel representing the Commission, pursuant to Article 143(2)(b) of Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2018/1046. The Director-General for Budget shall designate an official from at least the same type of post as Head of Unit or equivalent to deputise for this permanent member.’ Article 2 This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
