Having regard to Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 laying down Union procedures for the authorisation and supervision of medicinal products for human use and establishing a European Medicines Agency(1), and in particular Article 65(1) thereof,

| Official Journal of the European Union | EN C series ---|---|--- * * * | C/2025/2818 | 21.5.2025 ---|---|--- COUNCIL DECISION of 15 May 2025 appointing four members of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency (C/2025/2818) THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 laying down Union procedures for the authorisation and supervision of medicinal products for human use and establishing a European Medicines Agency (1), and in particular Article 65(1) thereof, Having regard to the list of candidates submitted to the Council by the European Commission on 5 February 2025, Having regard to the views expressed by the European Parliament by letter dated 20 April 2025, Whereas: (1) | Pursuant to Article 65(4) of Regulation (EC) No 726/2004, the term of office of the members of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency (‘Management Board’) currently in office will expire on 14 June 2025. The members of the Management Board whose term of office starts on 15 June 2025 are to be appointed in accordance with the procedure for nomination and appointment laid down in Regulation (EC) No 726/2004. ---|--- (2) | Article 65(1), second subparagraph, of Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 requires that the Management Board include two representatives of patients’ organisations, one representative of doctors’ organisations and one representative of veterinarians’ organisations. Those members are to be appointed by the Council in consultation with the European Parliament on the basis of a list drawn up by the Commission which includes appreciably more names than there are posts to be filled. Their term of office is to be three years and can be renewed. ---|--- (3) | The Commission has drawn up a list of candidates and submitted it to the Council on 5 February 2025. Following a call for expressions of interest, the candidates included in that list were selected on the basis of their specialist qualifications, their broad spectrum of relevant expertise as well as their relevant expertise in management, and their experience in the field of medicinal products for human or veterinary use. ---|--- (4) | The list submitted by the Commission has been examined with a view to appointing the four members of the Management Board representing civil society on the basis of the documentation provided by the Commission and in light of the views expressed by the European Parliament. The appointment of those members by way of this Decision guarantees that the highest levels of specialist qualifications, a broad spectrum of relevant expertise and the broadest possible geographic spread within the Union, as well as relevant expertise in management and experience in the field of medicinal products for human or veterinary use, are available within the Management Board, ---|--- HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 The following persons are hereby appointed as members of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency for a period of three years from 15 June 2025: PATIENTS’ ORGANISATIONS | DOCTORS’ ORGANISATIONS | VETERINARIANS’ ORGANISATIONS ---|---|--- Mr Marko KORENJAK Ms Virginie HIVERT | Mr Denis LACOMBE | Mr Christophe BUHOT Article 2 This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
