Statute overview

About this statute

This Regulation sets aviation security measures for airports, aircraft, passengers, cabin baggage, and hold baggage, and gives authorities and operators specific implementation duties. This provision requires screening and other security controls for hold baggage, cargo, mail, and in-flight supplies, and it prohibits listed dangerous articles in hold baggage and certain cargo/mail consignments. Known suppliers of in-flight and airport supplies must meet security-control, designation, screening, and training requirements, and airport operators and authorities have related implementation and oversight duties. Member States may trial new screening technologies only under specified conditions, including notice to the Commission, no security reduction, and informing affected people.
