Statute overview

About this statute

This Decision sets EU rules for monitoring, diagnosing, eradicating, and containing certain listed aquatic animal diseases, and requires Member States to follow the annexed methods and control measures. In limited-farm areas where targeted surveillance is not enough, disease-free status schemes must include selected sampling points that are inspected and sampled on a rotating basis, and test results must be negative for KHVD. For WSD control, affected farms must be inspected and sampled, infected farms must be emptied/cleaned/disinfected/fallowed, and restocking can happen only after those steps are completed. This provision sets detailed laboratory sampling and testing methods for several fish and mollusc diseases, including required PCR, RT-qPCR, histology, and confirmatory procedures. This provision sets detailed diagnostic procedures for detecting and confirming several aquatic diseases using methods like microscopy, PCR, sequencing, and control samples.
