Statute overview

About this statute

The Commission Decision approves amendments to Annexes I, II and V of the EU-Indonesia timber agreement and sets the Commission’s position in the Joint Implementation Committee. This segment sets timber-legality and supply-chain rules for Indonesian forestry operators, including permits, traceability, due diligence, export licensing, and some worker-protection requirements. Exporters must keep previous supply-chain stages in their internal traceability system and can obtain a V-Legal Document/FLEGT licence only if the shipment’s suppliers are covered by valid legality/SFM certification or SDoCs and the exporter is a registered ETPIK holder with a valid legality certificate. Customs may issue an Export Approval Document only after a positive verification of the Export Declaration Document. Forestry and audit bodies must carry out and cross-check timber data inspections and physical verification when needed, and report inconsistencies to each other.
