Statute overview

About this statute

The provincial government must consider local conditions when deciding whether to issue a municipal parking-enforcement order. A municipal parking enforcement officer must meet different qualification requirements depending on municipality size, and a municipal control assistant must have the traffic-law knowledge needed for the job. Municipal parking inspectors and their assistants must have an approved badge and an approved uniform or marking while on duty, and they must show the badge when needed or on request. This section says what information a parking fine demand or order must include, and that a payment slip must be attached. Parking violation fines paid to the State must be paid into a postal giro account at a post office or Postipankki, or to another bank if the Ministry of Finance so orders. Similar fines paid to a municipality must be paid into the municipality’s postal giro account, a post office, Postipankki, or another bank designated by the municipal executive.
