Statute overview

About this statute

State funds may be used to pay transport subsidy for certain goods transport in Finland, including some transport from permanently inhabited islands without fixed road access, as further specified by law and government decree. Transport subsidy may be paid for certain rail, truck, and port-related transport activities that meet the distance and location conditions listed in this section. Kuljetustukea voidaan maksaa rautatie- ja kuorma-autokuljetuksen yhtenäisestä ketjusta, kun molemmista kuljetusosuuksista maksetaan kuljetusmaksu erikseen kuljetuksen suorittajalle. No transport subsidy is paid for transports carried out with the company’s own vehicles, except when there is no rail or truck connection from the processing site and the journey is accepted up to the nearest place with onward connection. Transport subsidy may be paid to certain domestic entities, foundations, or Finland-resident persons who paid the transport fee as sender; for special reasons it may also be paid to the recipient, and port-operations subsidy must always be paid to the sender.
