Statute overview
About this statute
A director must lead, supervise, and develop the Immigration Service’s operations, report on results and goals to the relevant ministry, and establish the agency’s work order. Direktören avgör ärenden som hör till utlänningsverket, kan i enskilda fall ta över ett ärende från annan tjänsteman, och alla ska utföra uppdrag som direktören ger. The director and the unit head must each meet specified qualification requirements, including higher university education and demonstrated leadership ability; the director also needs leadership experience. Statsrådet appoints the director. The director appoints other officials and may hire staff on employment contracts unless that task belongs to another official under the work order. The regulation states when it enters into force and allows certain preparatory measures before that date.
