Statute overview

About this statute

This chapter concerns the duty to use a pilot and includes definitions. This section defines several terms used in the regulation, including dangerous goods, marine-polluting goods, MARPOL 73/78, the IBC Code, and the IGC Code. A pilot may perform pilotage on waters covered by a pilotage right granted through a pilot certificate issued by the Maritime Administration. The certificate is issued for a fixed term of up to five years and may be renewed.
