About this statute
Support may be granted from state budget funds for costs related to making and distributing films and other audiovisual programs, and for promoting film culture. Opetusministeriö may allocate state funds to the Finnish Film Foundation to support film and audiovisual production, distribution, and film culture. Production support may be granted to producers, creators, and distributors; other support may be granted to cinema operators, film festival आयोजators, and in some cases others. Production support cannot be granted to listed public bodies or majority-state-owned companies and similar entities. Elokuvasäätiön must make a contract with the support recipient when granting support requires it, and it must monitor how the support is used. When the film foundation grants support under Section 2, it must apply the named funding, administrative, records, transparency, language, and Sámi language laws in support matters, subject to the stated exceptions. A subsidy applicant dissatisfied with a grant decision may request written rectification from the Finnish Film Foundation within 30 days of being notified of the decision.
