Statute overview

About this statute

Social credit lending is credit lending within social welfare intended to prevent financial exclusion and overindebtedness and to support independent self-care by a person or family. Social credit granting is credit granted within social welfare, aimed at preventing economic exclusion and over-indebtedness and improving a person’s or family’s ability to manage on their own. Ett välfärdsområde får ordna social kreditgivning inom den omfattning det själv beslutar. The welfare area must arrange social crediting and set the grounds for granting social credits. Kommunen may arrange social crediting within the extent it decides, and if it does so it must set the criteria for granting social credits.
