About this statute

Driving a motor vehicle or tram after drinking enough alcohol, using narcotics, or taking another intoxicant so that driving ability is impaired can lead to a fine or up to six months in prison. A person who commits aggravated drunk driving must be sentenced to at least 60 day-fines or up to 2 years in prison if the alcohol level or impairment conditions are met and the conduct endangers someone else. A person who operates a vessel or performs a safety-critical task on a vessel must not do so while intoxicated, and may be fined or imprisoned for up to two years if the conduct endangers another person’s safety. Den som flyger, ingår i besättning eller utför annan flygsäkerhetsuppgift får inte vara påverkad över angivna alkoholgränser, ha narkotika i blodet eller vara nedsatt av annat rusmedel; brott kan ge böter eller fängelse i högst två år. A person driving a train or doing another safety-critical railway task must not do so while impaired by alcohol, narcotics, or other intoxicants; violations can lead to fines or up to two years’ imprisonment.
