Statute overview

About this statute

If an occupational disease appears while a worker is receiving certain pension benefits, and the harmful exposure ended before retirement, the worker’s annual earnings and work incapacity are assessed under special rules instead of the ordinary accident-insurance provisions. The provision lets the Government of Finland issue more detailed rules on defining a disease and its causes, and on implementing the law. It also says some repeated or unusual wrist/arm movement conditions can qualify as occupational disease, sets the law’s start date, and repeals an older rule.
