Meat and meat products from certain third countries may be imported only if they comply with the hygiene law and this regulation; imported meat and meat products must also bear a health mark or identification mark showing the export country and establishment, and meat or meat products that may endanger human or animal health must not be imported. Meat products may be imported only from the countries listed in Annex 6, and only if the listed health and approval conditions are met. Certain reptile, ostrich, emu and other ratite meat products need an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Import of certain slaughter-animal food products is allowed only if the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has granted a permit; the regulation starts on 1 June 2002.
