Statute overview

About this statute

No compensation is paid for certain health, pregnancy/childbirth, daily, maternity, paternity, and parental benefits while an insured person is interned in a forced institution. An employer must promptly notify the Social Insurance Institution’s office when it pays wages for a period covered by certain daily or family benefits; the office must, on request, tell the employer the period for which parental benefits were paid to the other parent. Oral hearings are generally subject to the law on public access to proceedings, but they must be held behind closed doors in confidential matters or when the review board decides that public hearing would cause special inconvenience to a party. Folkpensionsanstalten may disclose specified insurance and medicine-related information in listed situations, and must notify the insured before disclosing information under items 1 and 2. Folkpensionsanstalten and appeal bodies may obtain needed information, and several public, health, insurance, employer, and pharmacy actors must provide information when requested; Kela must also inform benefit applicants where information may be obtained and disclosed.
