Statute overview

About this statute

The Compensation Fund must have statutes that secure its operations and statutory tasks, and the Ministry of Finance approves the statutes after hearing the Financial Supervisory Authority and the Bank of Finland. The compensation fund must report annually to the Ministry of Finance, and the Financial Supervisory Authority must check each year that the cash-paid part of the fund has increased through regular payments. Securities firms are jointly liable for the compensation fund’s obligations, investor claims are paid from the fund in euros, and former fund members can still owe fees for earlier compensation events. The compensation fund must keep capital of at least EUR 12 million, including at least EUR 4.2 million paid in cash, and rebuild capital if it falls below that level.
