Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter heading: Priesthood. A person who is a civil servant at the church board or diocesan chapter may be ordained to the priesthood. Rules on qualification requirements and job duties for certain church offices are set by instructions issued by the Church Board or by the diocesan chapters. The bishop must carry out the listed supervisory, supporting, and ceremonial duties in the diocese. A bishop, or in an archdiocese the archbishop, must convene clergy and lectors to a synod meeting at least every six years, and may need to convene parish representatives and other church-related groups for diocesan days.
