Statute overview

About this statute

A customs officer may carry out certain body searches and other inspections without a preliminary investigation in specified cases, and the deciding officer must be a specially appointed customs officer heading customs crime prevention or customs surveillance. Upon request, a person must give Customs necessary information about another person from documents in their possession, and may not refuse information about someone else’s financial condition. Tullstyrelsen, tulldistriktet och andra tullmyndigheter får i vissa fall lämna ut uppgifter, men mottagaren får inte föra dem vidare eller använda dem för annat syfte utan tillstånd. A customs officer may request and receive information needed to prevent or investigate customs offences, even if secrecy rules apply. A customs penalty fee may be imposed, from 10 to 2,500 euro, for certain delays, errors, or neglected customs obligations.
