Statute overview

About this statute

The regulation applies to certification of the origin of electricity that is provided for in the cited law. This section defines several terms used in the regulation, including renewable energy sources, biomass, electricity from renewable sources, self-use equipment, and multi-fuel plants. Electricity produced from renewable energy sources may qualify for a guarantee of origin, except electricity used for own-consumption equipment during electricity production or combined heat and power production at a power station. An electricity origin guarantee must include extra information about hydropower and joint power plants. A certification issued by an assessment body is valid for five years from the certificate date; shorter periods are also allowed.
