Chapter heading: General provisions. The provision says this law covers burial, cremation, handling ashes, burial grounds, private graves, and crematoria. The remains of a deceased person must be buried or cremated without undue delay, and the remains and ashes must be handled respectfully. Parishes or church communities in the Evangelical Lutheran Church must maintain public burial grounds. A parish or church community in the Evangelical Lutheran Church must provide a grave site on request for certain deceased persons who meet the residence or home-municipality conditions.
