Statute overview

About this statute

The Ministry of the Interior is assigned a long list of tasks covering administration, public order and safety, passports and IDs, immigration, rescue services, and related areas. The section lists bodies that belong to the ministry’s area of responsibility. Provisionen beskriver hur ministeriet är organiserat och vilka avdelningar och enheter som finns där. The minister decides matters assigned to the ministry, while ministry officials decide certain less significant matters under the ministry’s rules. The minister, and in some cases senior officials, may also take over decision-making in individual cases. The Interior Minister issues the ministry’s rules of procedure, and each minister approves them for their own area if more than one minister has been assigned to the ministry.
