Statute overview

About this statute

The law’s purpose is to create a nationwide information system and information service with data about public and private roads and streets. This section says the law applies to creating, maintaining, and developing the road and street network information system, and to disclosing data in that system. The road and street network information system contains available data about roads and streets, including their position, names, dimensions, surface type, speed and traffic restrictions, bus stops, and other key characteristics. Vägförvaltningen ansvarar för att inrätta, administrera, upprätthålla, ge informationstjänst för, lämna uppgifter om, and tekniskt utveckla informationssystemet för väg- och gatunätet. Vägförvaltningen must provide road property data for the road-and-street network information system; Lantmäteriverket must provide certain route-location and property data under an agreement with Vägförvaltningen; and a municipality may provide street and private-road data under an agreement with Vägförvaltningen.
