Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines several terms used in the law, including the electrical safety authority, distribution network holder, assessment body, inspection body, authorised body, authorised inspector, and electrical contractor. An assessment body is appointed by the electrical safety authority on application, and the authority may revoke that appointment. The assessment body must meet the legal requirements and be able to show that it does. The authority supervises the body’s activities and ensures compliance at regular intervals. The Ministry may appoint and revoke an inspection body on application, and must oversee it and ensure it is notified and regularly checked for compliance. Elsäkerhetsmyndigheten may grant and revoke an electrical contractor’s certification right on application, if stated staffing, equipment, and quality-system requirements are met. Only an authorized inspector or authorized body may carry out certification inspections and periodic inspections of electrical installations, and more detailed rules are set by regulation of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
