Statute overview

About this statute

Certain medicine manufacturers and licence holders must have qualified staff, notify the Medicines Agency before starting trial drug manufacturing, and follow applicable manufacturing rules; the Medicines Agency may issue further rules. Several specified actors may import medicines. Läkemedelsverket must ensure inspections of specified medicines-related facilities as often as needed for proper supervision, and it may also inspect drug-safety activities and the premises of a person authorised to sell medicines. Läkemedelsverket may order that drug manufacturing be stopped temporarily at a drug factory, part of a factory, or a unit producing medicines for clinical trials if inspections or other findings show deficiencies that endanger proper manufacture, or if measures required under 78 § have not been taken. For export of medicines, the Medicines Agency may issue certificates about the medicinal products and their manufacture.
