Statute overview

About this statute

People moving to or within a home municipality must notify the magistrate within the stated time, and certain move notifications can be made in different ways or by a family member. Certain building owners, officials, and apartment holders must provide magistraten with relevant information when needed. After a report is received, the magistrate must make the registry note or request more information within three working days, unless the report is clearly inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise unreliable. This section sets how a person's moving date is determined: normally by the date stated in the notification if it is filed within one month after the move, otherwise by the date the notification is received, and if the magistrate makes a moving entry based on third-party information, by the date of that entry. Magistraten must order people to fix missing report information or provide requested occupancy information within a set time, unless there are special reasons not to issue the order.
