Statute overview

About this statute

The health protection central office leads county administrative boards and oversees public health work in specified cases. Authorities may inspect municipal and joint municipal activity on grounded reason; inspections can be unannounced, and inspectors must be given access and documents. Authorities may order defects fixed, set a deadline, and in urgent cases stop the activity or prohibit use of a unit or device. The health protection central authority and the county administrative board may issue a remark, or instead draw the supervised party’s attention to proper organization and good administrative practice, when a municipality or joint municipal authority has acted incorrectly or failed to perform its duty. A supervising authority covered by section 2 must not investigate public-health complaints about matters older than five years unless there are special reasons.
