Statute overview

About this statute

A farmer with an organic livestock production agreement must annually report the number of non-cattle animals to TE-centralen, using the ministerial form unless the special support application concerns only cattle. A protection zone on arable land next to certain water features must average at least 15 meters wide, and the covered shoreline area is generally limited to about 20 meters wide unless special reasons justify a wider area. A farmer may enter an organic production agreement only if the farmer is in the organic production control system, and the farmer must stay in that system for the whole contract period. An organic production agreement may cover most of a farm holding’s arable land, but small, unsuitable outlying parcels can be left outside it. Certain parcels must also be left out if the farm has selected specified environmental measures or related agreements. Farmers in organic production must meet control-system and crop-rotation rules, including a 30% crop-share requirement in specified years and a maximum 50% single-crop share in arable rotation.
