About this statute

Zoonoscentret must ensure effective, ongoing cooperation in supervision and research on tracking and controlling diseases that spread between animals and humans. Zoonoscentret must coordinate monitoring, reporting, research follow-up, outbreak investigations, training, international cooperation, action plans, and support for preparedness on zoonotic threats. Centret must have a director from the Food Safety Agency staff, and the Food Safety Agency and the Public Health Institute must set out in their work orders how the centre operates and how their units take part. The centre’s director must ensure the centre meets its goals and manage expert preparation, consistent procedures, and development of the centre’s activities. The director of the centre must meet three eligibility conditions: a higher education degree, familiarity with the centre’s area of responsibility, and proven leadership ability in practice.
