Statute overview

About this statute

This chapter concerns appeals or seeking a change in a decision. If you are dissatisfied with a Social Insurance Institution decision, you may appeal to the appeal board for social security; if you are dissatisfied with an appeal board decision, you may appeal to the insurance court. A decision of the insurance court cannot be appealed by complaint. Decisions are served by post to the address the person gave, and the appellant is deemed to receive the decision on the seventh day after posting unless proven otherwise. Late appeals may still be considered if there are strong reasons for the delay. This section lets the named bodies annul certain final decisions, order the case to be reheard, hear the parties first, and reconsider benefit cases when new evidence appears. Beslut av Folkpensionsanstalten och besvärsinstanser enligt denna lag är avgiftsfria, och vissa beslut av besvärsnämnden för social trygghet får inte överklagas till försäkringsdomstolen.
