About this statute
Chapter heading: “1 kap. Gripande, anhållande och häktning”. A person requested to be detained and who is under arrest must be heard in person about the detention request, and must be given a chance to use counsel. The court may use video or similar technology if suitable, and must bring the person to court if necessary. The court may extend the time for bringing charges if the original time is too short, and it must hear the detained person and counsel on the prosecutor’s request. When a detention matter is reconsidered, the court must give the detained person, their counsel, and the authorized officer a chance to be heard, unless they say it is unnecessary. A court must promptly hear a request from an arrest-eligible official, may use video conferencing, and generally decides the matter without hearing the suspect or telecom/space holder, except that in some cases the telecom connection/address holder must be given a chance to be heard unless investigation reasons oppose it.
