Statute overview

About this statute

Imported animals that violate the ban in paragraph 1 must be returned or destroyed at the owner’s or holder’s expense, or handled in another way approved by the Food Safety Authority. The Government may, if required by a binding international agreement or EU law, set a condition for animal transport requiring prior inspection of the animals and transport space by a designated veterinarian. Djurbesättningstransporter och uthyrning/överlåtelse av transportmedel i förvärvssyfte kräver tillstånd av länsstyrelsen, med vissa undantag och registerkrav. Jord- och skogsbruksministeriet and Livsmedelssäkerhetsverket lead and supervise enforcement and compliance with this law and the rules issued under it. The County Administrative Board is responsible for enforcing and supervising compliance with this Act and regulations issued under it in the county.
