About this statute

On application, Livsmedelssäkerhetsverket grants the right to act as a licensed veterinarian to eligible applicants who have the specified veterinary education and have given the required written and oral declaration. Livsmedelssäkerhetsverket kan, på ansökan, bevilja vissa EU/EEA- eller nordiska medborgare rätt att arbeta som legitimerad veterinär om de uppfyller angivna utbildnings- och försäkringskrav. Livsmedelssäkerhetsverket kan på ansökan bevilja rätt att arbeta som legitimerad veterinär när vissa utbildnings-, språk- och försäkranskrav är uppfyllda. Certain veterinary students and graduates may temporarily practise as a substitute veterinarian, for up to three years, and the Food Safety Authority may extend the period for special reasons. Certain EU/EEA veterinarians may practice temporarily in Finland without a veterinary licence if they notify the Finnish Food Safety Authority, for up to one year.
