Statute overview

About this statute

The law enters into force on 1 January 2007 and applies from then on to work done in employment relationships within its scope, including certain pensions granted before that date. This section repeals several listed pension laws and says later references to those laws should be read as references to corresponding provisions of the new pension act, unless otherwise provided. This section defines which pension laws are meant by “työsuhde-eläkelaeilla” and what “TEL-laki” means. Some TEL insurance arrangements are deemed to convert when the Employees Pensions Act enters into force. The policyholder may cancel the insurance in writing during the law’s entry-into-force year, but only to end on the last day of June, September, or December and only with at least three months’ notice. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health confirms Etera’s supplement amount and the calculation bases used for it; the provision also says pension institutions share responsibility for the paid supplement.
