Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines key terms used in the law: measurement standard, traceability, and calibration. Mätteknikcentralen may allow a national standards laboratory to depart from the duty to do metrological research tied to maintaining and developing national standards, if sufficient national standards are available and stakeholder needs are considered. Mätteknikcentralen must ensure access to traceable calibrations for accredited calibration laboratories. Certificates issued by accredited calibration laboratories also count as official calibration certificates when they cover calibrations performed within the laboratory’s competence. For measurements of radiation quantities, follow the Radiation Protection Act; for geodetic and photogrammetric measurements, follow the Act on the Geodetic Institute. The section also states that this law enters into force on 1 July 2006.
