About this statute

Chapter 4 concerns family leave. A worker is entitled to leave from work during certain maternity, special maternity, paternity, or parental pay periods, and parental leave may be taken in at most two periods of at least 12 working days each. An employee is entitled to care leave for a child, and must notify the employer before leave starts. An employee may take partial care leave for a child if the employment-length conditions are met, and must ask the employer at least two months before the leave starts. An employee may take temporary care leave for up to four working days at a time when a child under 10 suddenly becomes ill; a non-resident parent has the same right.
